What's new about the Gospel?
For thousands of years man has tried to change and make something "new"
out of the Gospel.
There is nothing "new" about the wonderful Gospel of Jesus Christ!!
Even so, the Gospel is still the most profoundly exciting "Good News" ever spoken to man!
The Gospel has been, is now and always will be the same eternally perfect and gracious message from God -- Eternal Salvation is by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. There is no other way.
Thankfully, in spite of man's attempts to change this simplicity of the Gospel and make it 'new', he has failed. Today, the Gospel is exactly as it was thousands of years ago. Since the very beginning of time man has tried to subvert it, change it, neutralize it and make it of 'none effect'. Man's greatest effort to destroy the Gospel is directed against the very essence and simplicity of the message of salvation -- which is: You are saved only by God's grace through your faith in Jesus Christ, without any salvation benefit from your good works or merit. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Man falsely says one or more of the following: In order to be saved you must:
1.) Change your life. (false) WHY is this false?
2.) Give your life to the Lord. (false) WHY is this false?
3.) Turn from your sin or 'repent' of your sins. (false) WHY is this false?
4.) Obey God's laws and commandments. (false) WHY is this false?
5.) Do good works. (false) WHY is this false?
6.) Join a church. (false) WHY is this false?
7.) Obey or try to obey the Golden Rule. (false) WHY is this false?
8.) Make Jesus the Lord of your life. (false) WHY is this false?
9.) Be water baptized. (false) WHY is this false?
10.) Take Holy Communion. (false) WHY is this false?
11.) Not worry, you're already chosen by God to be saved. (false) WHY is this false?
12.) Trust Jesus, but you must hang on and not lose faith. (false) WHY is this false?
13.) Never be sure -- because you can lose your salvation. (false) WHY is this false?Maybe you disagree... If so, please thoughtfully continue to read.
My friend, we can all be thankful none of the statements above are true according to God's Scripture. These are all lies concocted by Satan and promoted by man to subvert the precious simplicity of the God's Gospel message. God's salvation is FREE, without cost or strings attached. It is freely offered -- completely apart from any effort, merit or work on your part.
A quote from The Bible - Ephesians chapter 2: verses 8-9:
"For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast."
There are thousands of clear and simple Bible verses about God's free Salvation. Let's examine this one more closely phrase by phrase.
For by grace: God's grace - which is undeserved mercy..
Are ye saved: Not helped, not instructed, but SAVED.
Through faith: Not through your church, not self, not your merit, not your good works or anything else, just through your FAITH in Christ..
And that not of yourselves: NOT by what you try to do to be saved - REGARDLESS.
It is the gift of God: A true "gift" is free - no strings attached. Being saved is God's GIFT. It is not sold for any price because the price would be too high. God could never lower the price; the wages (price) of sin is death. You cannot buy your way. (I Peter 1:18,19). Simply, you either accept God's free gift or you cannot have His free salvation.
Not of works: This doesn't mean, 'Jesus did a lot and I can help him some'. "Not of works" simply means NOT OF WORKS.
Lest any man should boast: God doesn't want any braggarts in Heaven and there won't be any braggarts there. (I Corinthians 1:29) All praise for our salvation will be to the Lord Jesus Christ and not any earthly person.
Here is God's simple unchanging plan of Salvation just for you:
We are ALL sinners: Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God."
The result of sin is DEATH: Romans 6:23. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life."
Heaven is perfect: Revelation 21:27, "And there shall in no wise enter into it (Heaven) anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, neither worketh a lie:..."
You cannot earn salvation: Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it (being saved) is the gift of God not of works, lest any man should boast."
Christ paid the price for salvation and gives His righteousness. II Corinthians 5:21, "For He (God) hath made Him (Christ) to be sin for us. Who (Christ) knew no sin, that we would made the righteousness of God in Him." Philippians 3:9, "And be found in him (Christ), not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"
You must ONLY believe: John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ), that whosoever (you and me) believeth (trusts) in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
You can KNOW for sure you are going to Heaven: I John 5:13. "These things have I written unto you that believe on the Name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
Friend, this is the simplicity that is in Christ. Don't let your mind be corrupted by a counterfeit gospel. The Bible says, in II Corinthians 11:3, "But I fear, lest by any means as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."
An invitation to you... Please understand what is written above. In your mind you can simply make a statement to the Lord - He can hear you. Right now, the best you know how, trust Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Say something like this to the Lord, "Yes, I'm trusting Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. Nothing or no one else but Jesus Christ."
He knows your mind and thoughts. If, right now, you are trusting Jesus as your Savior, on the promise of God's Word, you HAVE Eternal Life immediately. Also, right now you may KNOW you are going to Heaven some day! (I John 5:13) ETERNAL life is just that -- Eternal -- without end.

1.) CHANGE YOUR LIFE??? To change one's life is a wonderful and admirable thing to do - but doing so can not in any way help you have eternal life. Eternal life is only gained by trusting Jesus as your personal Savior. Jesus Christ Himself said "Whosoever believes in Me HAS everlasting life!"

2.) GIVE YOUR LIFE?? You do not need to give anything to the Lord to have eternal life - you simply accept His Gift of eternal life provided when Jesus Christ died on the cross for you.

3.) TURN FROM SIN?? You cannot 'turn from sin' to be saved. Turning from sin may satisfy your mind but the Lord says the penalty of sin is DEATH... not turning. Christ paid the death penalty for ALL sin and asks you to trust Him alone. Also, the phrase "repent of your sins" for salvation is NOT FOUND in Holy scripture. Repentance is merely a change of mind -- specifically about the person Jesus Christ. Change your mind -- Believe now that Christ is not just a man in the world but God in the flesh who is the Savior of the world to anyone who will believe in Him.

4.) OBEY GOD'S LAWS AND COMMANDMENTS?? Obeying God's laws and commandments is a wonderful thing to do -- however God's laws were never intended to save sinful man. They were proclaimed by God to show how imperfect and helpless we are to save ourselves. Perfection can only be GIVEN by the Lord through your personal faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

5.) DO GOOD WORKS?? Good works cannot save! Even our best works condemn us. Ephesians 2:8-9 says our salvation is not dependent upon our works but is only the result of our faith. Faith and works are diametrically opposed to each other. However, AFTER we have trusted Christ as Savior, we SHOULD do good works - not to be or stay saved - but because we are saved.

6). GO TO CHURCH???? Church can not save--- Only Jesus Christ will save. We may hear the Gospel message in a church - but only the Gospel of Jesus Christ saves - not the church. AFTER we have trusted Christ as Savior - we should attend a good Bible believing and preaching church and become regular attendees studying God's Word.. We should encourage others to come to church to hear the wonderful Gospel so they likewise may look forward to eternity in Heaven.

7.) OBEY THE GOLDEN RULE???? "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is a wonderful way to lead your life. It is a proper way for all people to behave - however, the Golden Rule will NOT save. Only Christ will save. (John 3:16)

8.). MAKE JESUS LORD OF YOUR LIFE????? Jesus Christ is THE LORD whether you believe it or not, however He cannot be your LORD until after He is your Savior. Trust Him as your Savior and then you are able to submit to His Lordship... Submission to His Lordship will not save - but is something all believers in Christ should do AFTER they have trusted Christ as their personal Savior.

9.) BE WATER BAPTISED???? Water baptism is something every Christian should do after we have been saved by trusting Jesus as our Savior. Water baptism will not save - but is an outward demonstration to the world of our inward faith in Christ.

10.) HOLY COMMUNION? Believers are instructed to take the Lord's supper (communion) AFTER they are saved -- not to be saved. The Lord's supper is a precious request that Christ makes to believers as a remembrance of His crucified body and shed blood which Jesus Christ gave for every believer. Speaking of the Lord's supper, Christ said "This do in remembrance of Me"

11.) WE ARE CHOSEN TO BE SAVED????? No, The Lord says He would have everyone to be saved. He died for the sins of the whole world.. for each and every soul - but there are some who will refuse this Gift in spite of Christ's sacrifice and promise.. After we have trusted Christ - Scripture says we are then chosen 'in Christ' for service to Him because we, as believers, now belong to Him by our faith.

12.) HANG ON OR LOSE IT????? No! Eternal Life is ETERNAL... Life without end, FOREVER. Scripture says The Lord will never lose you or cast you out. When you have Heaven guaranteed by God, you WILL go to Heaven -- by the promise of God's Holy Word and His Grace.

13.) CAN YOU LOSE SALVATION????? NO!!! You CAN be absolutely sure of eternal life. Scripture says (I John 5:13) "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God (Jesus), that you may KNOW you have eternal life...." Trust Christ for your salvation, then take God at His word and rest in the assurance of your eternal life. His Word, His guarantee, His promise!!!
